Authentic chai tea takes a little more time to prepare than traditional black tea. What is authentic traditional chai tea? It is tea leaves, usually black (green and rooibos can be used also) blended with fragrant, rich, warm spices such as cinnamon, cloves, ginger, cardamom pods and sometimes a touch of pepper. Other ingredients such as vanilla, chocolate, caramel, almonds, rose petals and citrus peel are common in naturally flavoured chai teas.
